Why We Get STUCK. And What To Do About It...

“I’m stuck.”

It’s that moment when you realize all the action and “hustling” you’ve been doing hasn’t gotten you anywhere.

You’re just spinning your wheels in the mud.  And the harder you seem to push, the more you feel, well... stuck.

I have a theory on this... and the antidote.

If you’re like me, you have what is called a “personal brand” business (maybe you’re a coach, author, speaker, or digital content creator).

YOU become the face, the logo, heck! YOU become the very product you’re selling.  

Sound like you?

Well, therein lies the problem...

Once upon a time, you set out to create a business to give you freedom, lifestyle, money, and fulfillment.

But before you knew it...

The line that separates YOU from YOUR BUSINESS began to blur.

Until one day, every success, failure or action item of your BUSINESS became a complete reflection of YOU. It swallowed you up and ate your identify whole.

You are no longer you... you ARE your business.  

Or worse... you are your last launch or promotion.

And finally, you wake up to realize that YOU are there to SERVE your business. It no longer serves you.

...and the very “vessel” you created to give you access to this thing called “freedom,” is the very thing keeping you trapped. (Talk about irony, right?!)

Every action you take, every decision you make, is based on your fears, considerations, or personal limitations...

“What if they don’t like it?”

“What if I get criticism?”

“What if it doesn’t work?”

Don’t believe me?

Then why is it ALWAYS 100 times easier to give good advice to someone else, but when it comes to our own stuff, we just never seem to have the answer… we can never seem to get... unstuck?

Great. So now what?

If you’re sitting there, mind blown, getting present to the haunting reality of the vicious cycle most entrepreneurs have got themselves caught up in, I want to help.

Because I was there. Heck, I STILL go there.

But I know how to get myself out. And in a moment, so will you.

Step #1: You Are Not Your Business!

Say it with me, “I am not my business.” It does not define you. If your business fails, if a promotion fails, if your launch fails... YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE.

The first step is to surgically remove YOU from “YOUR BUSINESS.”

Otherwise, here’s what will happen:

You put your heart and soul into a project, you “burn your boats” and hustle your arse off, creating a MASSIVE ATTACHMENT to the success of your project. (“It has to work... or else!”)

And then, when it’s all said and done, you give it MEANING: “It didn’t do well, I’m not not cut out to do this.”

or... I suck... I’m not enough... I’m a failure.

Then, you take that meaning and you call it TRUTH. And you dedicate the rest of your life trying to AVOID any situation that could ever give you proof of that again.

And we all know, you CAN’T EXPERIENCE SUCCESS without FAILURE.

You can’t make an omelette without cracking a few eggs!

So... you enter what we call “Hustle Denial.”

You keep busy. You convince yourself you’re working hard. But in reality, you’re simply AVOIDING what you really need to be doing. The thing that could give you more evidence that “you’re not good enough.”

...and the cycle continues.

It’s the BS meanings we create about WHO WE ARE and what we are capable of that keep us trapped and stuck.

What if you were NOT your business? What if you were capable of anything? What if you had the ability to UNLOCK your full potential and accomplish your wildest dreams?

It’s possible, but you’d have to continue on to STEP #2...

Step #2: Face The Inevitability

Fear. Reasons. Excuses. There’s always a justification for why NOW just isn’t the right time.

But I’m going to give you the cold hard truth (warning: this may sting). NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU.

If you don’t have what you want want yet (bigger business, crazy launch, a new product, live event, etc.), there is an INEVITABLE moment in time that you WILL have to face if you want to get the results you’re after.

You will have to face that FEAR.

There will be a point (it’s different for everyone), where you will stand on the fringe of certainty, and you will have to take a step into the unknown. You’ll have to face the FEAR… the thing you’ve been avoiding.

Most are waiting for “the right timing,” or when it will seem comfortable or easy... or “ready.”

I’m here to say: that time will never come. It will never be RIGHT TIMING.

So my advice? If it is unavoidable, why not do what you’ve been avoiding NOW?!

“Leap and the net will appear.”

Step #3: Create Your Commitment

Here’s the final reason why we stay stuck. We put OUR concerns before those of our customers.

The MOMENT you create a commitment to serve, a commitment to help your customers, and you make that commitment bigger than your fear of looking bad or getting rejected, you’ll create UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM in your life.

Try it on.

Here’s the quick recap:

If you’re feeling stuck, you need to let go of any attachment or meaning about your business’ successes or failures. Then, you need to get comfortable with the uncomfortable action items that you MUST take in order to succeed. And finally, you must focus on a relentless pursuit to SERVE your customers, and you must put this commitment before any of your own concerns or fears.

Now, let’s talk about what I’m afraid of...
