Masks are KILLING your business.
Now, that may be a "deadly" claim, but ‘tis the season of All Hallows' Eve, I had to play off the words, but I’ll still back it up.
And all Halloween puns aside, this is a very SERIOUS topic.
Because... if you’re like most of my readers, then you operate a Personal Brand. That means... YOU are the star of the show. Which ALSO means...
Your business LIVES or DIES by the amount of people who are ATTRACTED to *YOU* and your content. If more people connect with you and your stuff, you get more leads... and more leads means more sales, right?
“But James, I’m posting 712 times a day on Instagram, all the cool wizbang GenZ tactics aren’t working.”
...well, sorry to say, but I don’t think it’s the tactics... it’s YOU.
Like, you’re the problem.
Now, hold on! Before you GHOST me (ha!), hear what I have to say.
If you are having any issue building/attracting an audience (and you are actually taking action to do so), I can diagnose with 90% accuracy what the issue is:
And it is you... or rather, it’s NOT being YOU.
And I’ll prove it!
Do you know what the most POWERFUL and MAGNETIC frequency is that the human body can resonate at?
It’s the frequency of AUTHENTICITY.
Authenticity... like REAL, GENUINE, 999.9% PURE authenticity is when the filters (your masks) of your humanness (your wounds, limiting beliefs, thinking brain) ARE GONE... and Your Essence - Your True Nature - comes through.
I believe AUTHENTICITY is present when your SOUL is present... unadulterated, unaltered or unfiltered by your humaness. This is what people call: REAL.
And when it ain’t real, it’s called “CRINGE!”
So, if you are putting on a mask (covering up who You truly are), not only won’t you be as effective as you could be... but you’re actually repelling the people you are MEANT to work with.
And as my good friend Alex Paulos (a BBD LIVE 2025 Keynote Speaker!) has mentioned, the average Personal Brand is wearing 2 to 3 masks at any time when they are speaking... some are wearing even more!
