There's a Widespread Epidemic Holding Entrepreneurs Back – Here's The Only Way To Beat It
James Wedmore

👇 TL;DR: This Week in The Digital CEO Weekly👇
âś… The biggest threat to entrepreneurs today isn't failure or competition... it's quiet resignation.
âś… The successful ones? They do the work that others avoid.
✅ You can be committed to your goals or your excuses – but never both.
From the Desk of James Wedmore:
This week’s newsletter will probably piss some people off. And it will stir something in others.
Good. Because there are some things that have been on my mind, and they need to be shared.

I guess there are just some things I see... that I have the opportunity TO see because:
a) I’ve been in this industry for so long
b) I work with THOUSANDS of clients
c) It’s in my nature to have more of the “Eagle Eye”
I call it The Epidemic of Quiet Resignation.
Essentially, “entrepreneurs” that have BIGGER goals and dreams than ever before are thinking and playing SMALLER than ever before.
I mean, don’t get me wrong – it’s been amazing to watch so many people step into the World of Entrepreneurship in just the past few years... I’m just confused why they still don’t THINK like one.
I’ll never forget a quote I read years ago...
“Entrepreneurship is DOING what others are unwilling to do, so they can HAVE, DO, BE and EXPERIENCE what others won’t!”
THAT’S entrepreneurship.
The DECISION to sacrifice EASY... to let go of mediocrity, to choose HARD now, for REWARD later.
If you’re someone who loses your lunch every time the IG algorithm changes, or FB ads get more expensive, or a competitor joins your industry, there's a way, way bigger threat to your success: mediocrity and apathy.
Being resigned to living AVERAGE. Void of EXCELLENCE.
But why would we need to pursue excellence in the age of AI and TikTok – where the PERCEPTION that's bamboozled so many is that everything should be easy, quick and instant?
So you start saying NO to what's hard... all in pursuit of a shortcut.
But here's the irony... how LONG have you been looking for that shortcut?
Simply put, I see a lot of people afraid or unwilling to do hard things, and then complain they don’t have nice things.
Today, I look back at a 20 year career... $100M in total Sales... the life I’ve lived, what I’ve created, and all the people, things and experiences I’m unbelievably grateful for, and I can say this emphatically: no one has ANY IDEA the work I’ve done ON myself to get here.
I had all the "ca-ca" ... every fear, limiting belief, insecurity... the imposter syndrome, self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, workaholism, YOU NAME IT... I’ve been there.
But I was willing to WORK THROUGH all of it ... and my journey is ENDLESS!
But people see who I am today and just claim, “well that’s easy for you to say James, you’re successful, or this or that!”
....ya?! Well how the heck do you think I got there, silly pants??!!?
So, look, it’s as simple as this: if you have GOALS, the question is, do you WANT your goals?
...or do you want your excuses and limitations?
Because you get what you are committed to... ALWAYS. And you never get BOTH.
And right now, in this VERY unique time in our World, where we are getting squeezed collectively, invited to GROW, expand, and step into something greater, it’s SO EASY to catch this contagion permeating through the air.
The mind virus of fear and small thinking.
So, while I see more people dim their light and play smaller than ever before, and argue for their limitations in an unprecedented way, there are still those that choose to rise above that noise... transmute and transcend that frequency and operate in a completely different manner.
(Some reading this will hear a voice in their head that scoffs at this... “oh please. He is being melodramatic!” <---well, that’s the Siren’s call to mediocrity.)
These will be the Industry Leaders of tomorrow. These will be the most successful.
And that’s who I want to speak to.
Those who are willing to do the hard, the impossible, the confronting... not just because they get a butt-ton of money on the other side of it, but because they know it will not only transform their lives, but those around them.
They are the ones that are truly committed... for COMMITMENT simply means: DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES.
So, the question is, what are successful entrepreneurs willing to DO that no one else is?
The answer? Well... anything. But here are some specifics.
(Note: this is an incomplete list of what’s on my mind currently. Obviously I could expand heavily on all of these concepts, but the opportunity is to look where you line up with each of these.)
- They know themselves and what they want. Who are you working FOR? What do YOU want, free from limit or constraint? Who ARE you, really? Do you even know?
- They trust their Inner Knowing, NOT their thinking brain. Most of my "best moves" in business came from an illogical "gut feeling." ...not logic. Definitely not fear. Get back in touch with that.
- They do hard and challenging things. Stop being so damn afraid to do hard things. That's how everyone else operates! As they say, "choose your hard." Hard path or hard consequence?
- They are willing to take risks and make mistakes. If you can't stomach risk, don't be in business. NOTHING is guaranteed. You will have to take a chance on yourself and your dreams... so either leap or step away from the ledge.
- They don’t operate from Fear. Fear is your WORST advisor. PERIOD.
- They don’t make excuses. The average person has a library full of excuses and reasons as to why they can't start, continue, launch, grow or scale. So... in a World of reasonable people, be UNREASONABLE.
- They don’t complain. Your complaints are a rejection of reality... of what is. And what you complain about, is what you give your Power to.
- They fail their way to inevitable success. Successful people have no "thought noise" about FAILURE. Failure is simply a label used to garnish pity from self or others. Why are you so afraid of failure? Everyone has failures on their resume. The difference is successful people LEARN from "what didn't work" (failure) and they keep going.
- They don’t seek validation in the eyes of others. No one's opinion of you will ever matter more than your own. And some concern themselves with themselves way more than strangers on the Internet do.
- They do what they love with zero attachment. You get this one down, you win the Game of Life right here!
Ok... I'm not trying to be mean or too intense, but we are in such a unique and wonderful time where people who "get their shit together" will create MASSIVE opportunities for themselves and their families in the next few years.
Mark my words.
And... a LOT of people who feed their fears will take themselves down. I'm already seeing it happen.
Don't let that be you! Rise Above!
