âś… On the podcast: The 9 subtle (but essential) success habits that high-performing entrepreneurs use to create real traction in their biz
From the Desk of James Wedmore:
The moment you choose a Path of Entrepreneurship, growth is REQUIRED... and it’s inevitable!
Heck, I can’t even recognize the person I was when I started this journey!
And even if you’ve only been in this game for only a few months... you have already GROWN! Probably more than you realize!
Unfortunately, your Ego doesn’t want you to acknowledge that growth. Have you noticed that? The more PRESENT you are to your current level of expansion, the more you’ll be encouraged to keep going! Right outside your comfort zone!
And the Ego does not like that, does it?! Danger! Danger! ;-)
Think about this: you’re not even the same person you were YESTERDAY! How about that?!

But that’s one of the tricky things about GROWTH: it can be really hard to see.
When you do change, what actually shifts is your Lens - or Context of how you see and interpret the World around you. So you SEE things differently... so what you see appears "different."
But that's not “reality” changing... that’s YOU changing!
Maybe you’re already starting to notice you see things differently: some of the people you spend time with... money... business... marketing... the World itself... Those are indicators of YOU changing!
So... hey! Well done ;-)
Back when I was starting my business, I used to take a break late at night and just run. I would jog on the old track from my high school. So first, as I ran on it, I reflected on who I was back in high school the first time I ran this very same track. “Who am I now? Today?”
And I kept that habit. For years, I would come back to the very same track.
My feet hitting the same ground, the track became a CONSTANT - something unchanging as I was changing. The track would be the same... yet I felt different every time I ran on it.
I had different thoughts, beliefs and results. It’s weird… but the unchanging CONSTANT (the track) gave me the opportunity to see the growth.
So it’s an invitation for you to do the same: find a CONSTANT in your life.
Something you know won’t change (like running on the same track), and use it as an anchor to get present to your own growth.
Pretty cool.
Now, for me today, (and frankly it should be the same for you as well), it’s all about GROWTH.
In fact, I believe that’s why you are here on this planet: to grow. To discover more of who you REALLY are. And the good news: as you grow... your business grows too!
So... something I did years ago: I made GROWTH my Number One VALUE. Right there at the top!
That is a game changer. Like a Cheat Code for Living.
Why?
Because EVERYTHING you do, everything that “happens,” I’m talking the good, the bad, AND the ugly... all fills that cup! ...it causes you to GROW!
You no longer RESIST the painful, you embrace it. Accept it. Learn from it!
It’s truly helped me through dark and challenging times... and oh boy, you can bet that I GREW!
I could be grounded and grateful in a challenging time, like going through a painful divorce or the passing of a parent... knowing I’m acquiring more life experience to serve me and others.
It gave an empowering context to handle what life was presenting me with.
So, let’s talk YOUR Growth for a moment. Why it’s so important... but also, not easy.
If you want something you’ve never had... it will require you to give something you’ve never given, or give up something you have never given up... and that ain’t always easy.
One of the things people don’t talk about...
As you grow, you outgrow your pre-existing “Structures.”
By structures I mean: what you’ve already built and created in your life. It could be HOW you’ve built your business, or structured your household or routines, etc...
These things can give you a sense of certainty and safety... and then you one day, realize: who you have now become requires a completely different STRUCTURE. Those structures don’t serve you any more. Gulp.
That’s when things can get very scary, and stop most from growing... they go into “retrograde.”
Why? Because letting go of what you’ve created or built or maintained... is SCARY. Very scary.

And... it is necessary for continued growth.
But not doing this... is usually what leads to Burnout, Failure, Quitting or Crashing.
Think about it... “burnout” is the result of spending time and energy on things you shouldn’t be spending time and energy on any more. Your Soul (You) said no... your body said, “yes.” Soul always wins in the end.
As you change, you see the old structures differently.
You see this with relationships. Some friends don’t “get” you any more. You find you have less and less in common. Some of those relationships no longer serve who you are anymore, and oftentimes we must let go.
And that can be really hard.
But what about when the very things you’ve created in your business no longer serve you… you must make the necessary changes and restructuring to fit the new you that is emerging. It must support the new you.
The discipline to master: Letting Go.
Letting GO is the way to GROW. And it is also one of the hardest things humans can do.
But the good news: EVERY TIME you let go...
...you let in.
And what you LET IN, is always an upgrade!
Why?
Because it aligns and serves the NEW YOU that you’ve become.
So, I want to leave you with some simple journal prompts to contemplate this week...
-
What have I been holding on to that no longer serves me?
-
What do I already know I need to let go of, that I’m afraid to let go of?
-
What has become heavy, draining and soul-sucking in my life?
-
What else do I need to let go to get to where I am going next?
Let go... to let in.
Life is often hardest in the moments we are unwilling to let go of what no longer serves us, and our greatest expansion, growth and transformations happen in the nanoseconds after we finally put down the thing we know we aren’t meant to carry any longer.
Here's to your continual growth!
Have a great week!
