Recently I spoke at an event on the topic of money. It's one of my favorite topics... probably because I spent so much time struggling to make it (let alone keep it) the WRONG way.
20 years and $100M later, I've learned a thing or two.
People seemed to really like what I had to say, so I'm recapping a bit of it here.
So, let's dive in...
First, I call these money skills because... they can be learned. When you PRACTICE... you get better. Experience becomes your true teacher.
Also... it's not just ONE skill ya gotta learn, it's THREE. So, let's break all three down.
Money Skill #1: Make It
Ah yes, the skill of MAKING the moola. It is absolutely a skill.
And if your business is generating sales and growing year after year... then you're pretty damn good at it! Great job!
But, if you don't make a lot of money, if your launches are dismal and your sales are in decline... you are not good at this skill.
So, how do you get good at it? GREAT at it?!
Well, this is really a "chunked up" series of skills: you need to master the ability of knowing your audience, creating something of value, turning it into an irresistible offer... and you need to master the ability to...
...sell.
Selling is a skill. It's required. And most people suck at it. So... practice!
But there's also the invisible side of this. The frequency (or Operating Field as I call it) that you must manage. To be in COHERENCE with attracting money, you must OWN your VALUE. SEE the value you offer to others, BELIEVE in your prospect, and sell UNAPOLOGETICALLY and with CONVICTION.
You can't hesitate. Worry about rejection. Or concern yourself with not being liked. You have to show up AS A LEADER offering a true, effective solution. YOU must be MAGNETIC. Desirable to work with.
...this is where people get it wrong.
They overthink everything and overconcern themselves with themselves, and never focus on who they could help or serve if they just shut up and pitched.
Money Skill #2: Manage It
Ok, once you learn to make the revenue, it's a whole new skill entirely to KEEP IT.
Managing money and spending it is a SKILL. One that I learned... the hard way.
If you DON'T learn this skill, you'll overly rely on the FIRST skill, and end up with a million dollar business that has ZERO profit margin, or worse... debt.

Money Skill #3: Multiply It
Ok. The third and final Money Skill. The forgotten stepchild of the money convo.
The skill of getting your money to work for you and multiply.
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT.
You will hear me talk about this again and again. It's why I bring experts like Mel Abraham into our community. Because of one simple truth:
âžś Your business will NOT give you freedom.
âžś Your Million Dollar Launch does not give you freedom.
âžś A certain amount of money in the bank does NOT give you freedom. (Especially at the rate of inflation.)
You can only TRULY have REAL Financial Freedom when you have Cash Flow (a business) that feeds a Wealth Machine (multiplier). Period.
Now, I'm not here to be your financial advisor, but I can tell you this. To PRACTICE this skill, the following is required:
- The consistent habit of contributing money to your Wealth Portfolio FIRST
- A patient, long-term view for your goals
- No emotion. No greed. No fear. Patience. Trust. Discipline.
- Research and Education... especially to check your inherent biases. (Educate yourself on both the bearish and bullish opinions for your investments).
